about remixing the species

Why do we want to connect with people? Why is it so common for us to form into groups, communities or tribes? Through remixing video we are investigating the ties that bind all humans together. We are part of the My Tribe project a collaboration between ABC’s Pool, Radio National, RMIT and Federation Square in Melbourne.

Recycling old and new footage, finding audio, images and text we are going to create a series of remixes that explore how all tribes are inherently similar: at the end of the day, as Gotye said, we’re just desperate to connect.

The idea from the project stemmed from Cris’s trip to Burma. Read his story about the trip here.
